Recognize the material

Bupleurum rotundifolium has yellow-green flower clusters and prominent bracts. Upper leaves can surround the stem, making it appear to pass through them.

Botanical reference: Bupleurum rotundifolium — NC State Extension

Make a deliberate design choice

Compare the rounded upper leaves with the discs of eucalyptus or a fern-like spray. These green textures are not interchangeable. Leave a section visible in a real trial rather than hiding all its structure behind focal heads.

A comparison you can reproduce

Enter two Bupleurum stems as their own line and compare one with focal counts unchanged. Inspect which leaves would sit below the waterline before deciding the real cut length.

The comparison is an original BLUMIVELA planning exercise, not a tested arrangement or a botanical treatment.
