Recognize the material

Echinops ritro has spherical blue flower heads on stiff stems and coarse divided leaves. Branched stems can carry several heads.

Botanical reference: Echinops ritro — NC State Extension

Make a deliberate design choice

Use a round head as a contrast to a long spike or a flat cluster. If surrounding materials conceal the sphere, compare fewer clearly visible heads instead of adding stems merely to force more blue into the design.

A comparison you can reproduce

Record two purchased stems and count their real heads separately. Inspect coarse foliage while handling. The source photograph does not guarantee a branch number or head diameter for a supplier's batch.

The comparison is an original BLUMIVELA planning exercise, not a tested arrangement or a botanical treatment.
