Recognize the material

Syringa vulgaris has fragrant flower panicles, often paired at branch tips, and opposite heart-shaped leaves.

Botanical reference: Syringa vulgaris — NC State Extension

Make a deliberate design choice

Inspect where clusters and leaf pairs sit before selecting length. A shorter cut can remove a useful fork or put leaves close to the waterline. Count purchased branches separately from visible flower panicles.

A comparison you can reproduce

Measure a branch base against the vessel neck before adding a second to a draft. The garden profile does not establish a tested hot-water, hammering, or preservative method for your cut branches.

The comparison is an original BLUMIVELA planning exercise, not a tested arrangement or a botanical treatment.
